Celebrities On The West End Stage

The West End is alive with celebrities strutting their stuff in top London shows. Soap stars, film actors, famous musicians and reality TV contestants have all flocked to Theatreland of late and are showcasing their talents on the big stage.

Here is a rundown of the latest celebrities currently performing at the West End and those about to take the limelight.

Laura Dos Santos and Tim Piggott-Smith
Laura Dos Santos who has appeared in The Bill and Bad Girls stars in Educating Rita. A fabulous actress, Dos Santos will perform alongside Tim Piggott-Smith who has enjoyed roles in multiple stage and screen shows including Doctor Who. A London show superbly written by the ever-popular Willy Russell, Educating Rita is a wonderful play which addresses the many issues facing a Liverpudlian community and features a cast of just two. This duo have tremendous chemistry onstage and make this a great London show.

Meera Syal
Shirley Valentine completes the Willy Russell season at the Trafalgar Studios and stars Meera Syal. Leading this one-woman show, Syal is engaging and gets the balance between sentiment and comedy just right. London theatre breaks are designed to suit all different tastes, so if all-singing, all-dancing musicals are not your thing, Shirley Valentine is a great alternative.

Lucie Jones and Samantha Barks
Lucie Jones, who made it into the live shows of X Factor in 2009 stars as Cosette in the ever popular musical Les Miserables. Jones stars alongside another former reality show contestant Samantha Barks who rose to fame on the TV talent search I’d Do Anything and is now playing the role of Eponine. An all time favourite London show set amid the Parisian underworld during the French Restoration, Les Miserables has proved a great success.

Robert Lindsay
Robert Lindsay will star in the upcoming West End show Onassis. A talented and experienced actor, Lindsay has starred in the popular TV show Citizen Smith and the hilarious comedy My Family. A diverse performer, Lindsay has appeared on stage numerous time playing Shakespearean roles and starred as Fagin in the West End production of Oliver! the musical.
